ps: he has long hairMy guinea pig has an infected lip and he is losing weight and his eye waters what should i do?
Get your piggie back to the vets and tell the vet he isn't getting better. In the mean time clean your piggies lip with warm water (boil it first and leave it to cool until you can put your finger in without it burning) mix a spoonful of salt in with this and use kitchen paper to gently wipe any pus or debris from it. Don't use wood shavings or sawdust : keep him on fleece bedding or safe newspaper (check with the printers, their telephone number is inside the newspaper to make sure they are printed using vegetable based inks) to cut down on dust. He'll still need hay though so feed him this in a hay rack. If he isn't already keep him indoors and keep an eye on him.

It sounds like he'll need a course of antibiotics. and his teeth will need checking. If they aren't aligning he won't be able to eat hence his weight loss.

You can get sachets from your vet or local pet store to feed to herbivores who won't take solids. This will boost his appetite too. see the link below. Look for an alternative if you aren't in europe.

Please get a different vet if yours won't give him anything to fight infection. All vets, no mater how rubbish using hand out baytril like sweets to small pet owners. My guinea pig has an infected lip and he is losing weight and his eye waters what should i do?
Regardless of your financial status (who isn't poor these days?), you should be calling a veterinarian instead of asking on here! Find a qualified vet, not a dog and cat vet, and see if he'll make payment arrangements with you to pay for the visit, as most compassionate and good vets will do.

Apparently the vet you used before does not know anything about guinea pigs. You need a veterinarian who treats exotic pets, like guinea pigs.

There are several different things that can be wrong with your guinea pig - and all require meds from a vet, as well as a proper diagnosis from someone qualified to do so.
VET ASAP. your GP needs meds for the infections and sounds like he will need to be force fed as well if he is not eating and losing weight.

if he is eating once he gets on meds he may stop eating at that point. my 5 year old GP is on meds for a UTI and she stopped eating. so i had to feed her Critical Care by OxBox to keep her healthy while on the meds. she is doing great now.

good luck.. and don't wait.. these little guys can go quickly :(
u should try using different shavings for his cage. my old guinea pig's eyes watered usually because of the food i gave him. your guinea pig is probably allergic to something in his cage or in the area that his cage is in.
He is most likly very sick, and needs to been seen by a vet but also if he is very old it might just be his time to go. I hope everything is okay
Time for a new guinea pig
i would take him to a vet and tell them whats going on so theyt can see whats wronge

go now if he wont eat
take him to a vet
